Implants in Oklahoma City

If your considering Implants in Oklahoma City we can help you find the dental implant solution that best matches your needs. Our OKC Dental Implant care providers will also help you determine which option is best for you, depending on particular needs.

There are two primary types of dental implants:

  • Endosteal: These dental implants are placed in the  jawbone. Typically made of titanium and shaped like mini screws, they are the most often used type of implant.
  • Subperiosteal: These dental implants are placed below the gum but on, or above, the jawbone. This type of implant can be used in patients who do not have enough healthy natural jawbone and cannot,  or do not want to, undergo a bone augmentation procedure to rebuild it.

When your jawbone is not able to support dental implants, a few techniques can be used to rebuild bone, restore your natural jawline and provide a sturdy foundation for teeth supported by implants. Such as:

  • Bone augmentation. This involves restoration or regeneration of bone in the jaw when it is unable to support implants. Statistics show that using bone additives and growth factors to strengthen the bone generally achieves optimum results.
  • Sinus lift. Sometimes called sinus augmentation or sinus elevation, this involves the addition of bone below the sinus cavity in cases with natural bone has deterioration due to missing back teeth in the upper jaw.
  • Ridge expansion. If a jawbone is too narrow to support dental implants, bone graft matter may be added to a small ridge, or space, created along the top of the jaw.

Other Types of OKC Dental Implant Techniques Available

After taking into consideration the health of a patients jawbone and their specific needs, our Oklahoma City dental implant experts may suggest alternative treatment dental implant procedure options.  Which may include:

  • Immediate Load Dental Implants. Often called same day implants or One Day Teeth, immediate load dental implants allows for the  placement of  temporary teeth during the same appointment as dental implant placements. This can be a very good option when patients have enough natural bone and implants sturdy enough to support immediate placement and load on the new temporary teeth.
  • Mini dental implants (MDIs). Also referred to as small or narrow diameter implants, these toothpick-sized implants are thinner than most commonly used dental implants. They are placed through less-invasive techniques and are used primarily to stabilize lower jaw dentures.
  • All-on-4®. All-on-4 is a substitute to placing a top or bottom set of replacement teeth, called a full arch. Only four dental implants are placed in the jaws available bone, avoiding the need for grafting. Special supports are used so that a temporary set of replacement teeth can be provided the same day.Patients follow an adjusted diet while the gum tissues rebuild and the implants bond with natural  bone. After about six months, the permanent replacement teeth are placed and patients resume regular diets.

OKC Dental Implant Costs

Are Dental Implants In OKC Expensive?

The cost of dental implants in Oklahoma City will vary widely depending on the type of implants and the quality of workmanship involved. The return on investment that patients get from healthy, functional, and beautiful teeth is reasonable. It’s important to remember that dental implants are advanced pieces of equipment. The material and tools that make it possible to restore teeth are of very high quality. Dental implants are costly to make. Pure titanium is custom shaped with precision into screw form for the fixture of an implant to the jaw bone. The cost of titanium material is fair however process of refining and crafting the material is time consuming and requires a high level of expertise. Of course a lot more goes into the procedure though. Every dental implant requires a custom designed crown that's placed on top of the titanium screw. No two dental crowns are the same. Crowns are specifically designed for each patient after our dentists evaluate the mouth and what kind of shape is required. The material used to make a crowns is not very high cost either, but molding the crown to create a 3D model and casting the crown is costly. The time and expertise including the tools and materials does raise the price, but it is necessary for longevity, effectiveness, and overall quality. The procedure of placing the screw and crown is very complicated and requires an incredible amount of precision and detail. Dentists have worked very hard and long hours to acquire these skills. Finally, our dentists must ensure the implant allows normal and full functionality of your mouth. Routine check ups are used to work out complications (if any). Often times the perception of dental implants is that they are expensive. However a better way to state this is that implants can be high cost as opposed to expensive for worthwhile reasons (as discussed above). However, this  isn’t to say that there aren’t affordable options for teeth replacement in Oklahoma City (also discussed above).
